Excellent Product
I was brand loyal for over twenty years, but I need to take 6000IUs daily and since 5000 and 1000 come in different quantities, I was always out of (or running low) on the other. This is not like a vitamin for me. It is a must have, need to function, keep me healthy medication to replace what my body can’t. Thus, after nearly twenty years of frustration I used my math brain to figure out I could simply take two 3000IUs and be done. I set it up on Subscribe & Save, so I don’t ever run out. The pills are smaller, but not too small that they are difficult for my arthritic fingers to handle. They are easy to swallow as well. New formula, and larger softgels, to be vegetarian friendly
I purchased my first bottle early this year and recently purchased a second bottle. The softgels in the second bottle were quite a bit larger and less clear than the first time. The ingredients list no longer contained fish gelatin, but instead listed modified tapioca starch. Also, the percent daily value was reduced from 750% DV to 375% DV, even though the amount was still listed as 3000 IU. I e-mailed the manufacturer to ask for an explanation and this is waht they responded.There are 2 answers to your questions.The first, and more important question, is regarding the change in the %DV. The FDA has recently changed the %DV for most of the vitamins and minerals. Additionally, in the past vitamin D was measured in IU, and now, per FDA new standards, vitamin D is measured in mcg. So, while this sounds complicating, old FDA regulations stated that the %DV of vitamin D was 400 IU, meaning 3,000 IU was 750% of the daily value. The new FDA regulations upped the daily value of vitamin D to 20 mcg, which is the equivalent of 800 IU. Meaning, that now, 3,000 IU is the same as 75 mcg, which is currently 375% of the daily value. Hence, it is not our amounts that changed, but rather the FDA’s new %DV and unit of measurement.Regarding your next question about the size/color of the softgels and bottle, we upgraded the formula to be vegetarian friendly, and the softgel no longer contains fish gelatin. Therefore, the softgels do have a different appearance than they used to.

Small easy to swallow D-3 3000 IU softgels
250 softgels of 3000 IU of D3. This is a lot better than having to take 3 1000 IU. Just easier and about the same size. Good for my elderly mother.

Was really happy to receive the parcel earlier than expected! Was even happier to see how small it is for easy intake. Love it! My doctor will be happy to see my Vit D improvement soon.
