A relief to find this product
I’ve needed a good (for me) source of Omega-6 essential fatty acid and have looked for a long time. The traditional plant-based sources are a ‘no-go’ due to the fact that the most common sources are borage oil, evening primrose, etc and these all have mild estrogenic effects due to their high lignan content. While lignan is NOT a bad nutrient, it is actually a very reactive compound if you are at all estrogen-sensitive, as I am.In comes Black Currant Seed Oil to save my day! It has NO lignan content in it and has some scientific reserach into its effectiveness, hence no hesitation on my part to give this a try. I did more research on what might be one of the most legitimate and straightforward sources/brands, and this one won out.I am mightily relieved that I found this product… Omega-6 essential fatty acid is very difficult to encounter in regular daily eating IF one avoids all processed foods (as we do) and are on a limited fat-content diet to begin with. Add in that one of us is completely dairy intolerant and we gave up meat, seeds are a great, healthy way to get your Omega-6 except when for folks like me, one is sensitive to lignans in flax, chia, hemp, borage, evening primrose… *sigh.*

An OBGyn Recommended for Mild Depression – TOTALLY WORKS
About 6 years ago, I would have bouts of depression that would hit me pretty hard for a few days at a time. I could barely get through the day at work and then I’d crawl into bed. A crushing feeling in my chest, a feeling of dread, and a desire for sleep would overtake me. This went on for a year or longer. I was living in Singapore at the time and my OBGyn suggested I take Black Currant Seed Oil. She actually gave me some that her office kept on hand. (It wasn’t this brand, but bear with me on the story….). Anyway, I’ve taken 2 black currant seed oil tablets since then and I have not had one episode of this since. Once I could feel that feeling coming back and I realized I’d accidentally skipped a few days. Took the pills and it went away by the next day. I am posting this because it seems to not be a widely known thing in America, where every doctor just wants to put you on Zoloft or another med vs trying something herbal. I hope this post helps someone. I bought this brand recently and it’s fine. I’ve bought many brands over the years, though, and they all worked just fine. So am really posting more about the overall use of this – but go ahead and give this brand a try 🙂 (Also, I just realized I am writing this on my husband’s account so if you’re wondering about the name, I really am a woman :-))

Great product – especially for those with thinning hair!
My daughter recommended this product after reading about the benefits of Black Currant Seed Oil. Yes, it’s got great anti-oxidants, but the reason I bought it were the reviewers who said it helped them with thinning hair. Thinning hair runs in my family. I really don’t want to wind up with a bun that looks like a pin curl, so I thought I’d give it a try. And guess what? It actually works!!!! Sure, it takes some time before the effects are evident, but after about a month, I noticed new growth along my part line. Then, when I went to my hairdresser, without being prompted, she commented on how much new growth was all over my head!I’m very happy with this product and will continue taking it.

Using for dry eyes
I had LASIK done this summer, and it has made my life a living nightmare. I’ve finally gotten over (mostly) photophobia that lasted 2 months, and now just dealing with constant dry eyes. Although it’s not stated on the bottle or anywhere on this page, this stuff has been used by doctors to treat dry eyes and is an ingredient in an expensive dry eye supplement. I take one of these along with an Omega 3, 6, 9 pill daily. My eyes feel much better, and I am using fewer eye drops now.

An excellent supplement for me
I have been taking supplements for many years and the results are instantaneously good, instantaneously bad or I feel no benefit. This item, Black Currant Seed Oil, was in the instantly good camp. I had recently suffered the loss of a family member and due to that accompanying stress was losing full strands of hair. This reversed the hair loss for me. I also noticed it’s anti-inflammatory properties. The oil seems to circulate thru the body in search of areas troubled by the swelling and pain associated with arthritis and zero in on them. Another side effect of the death of the family member left me with my first experience with gastritis. Although I am still dealing with this particular problem, this oil has considerably relieved the pain. I had not been taking prescriptions for any of these problems, just Tylenol. So, my problems, though minor in nature were beneficial to me and I would not hesitate to recommend it based on my experience.

Darker Softgels
I like this product except this time the softgels are clear not dark as it should be like Black Currant Seed.I cannot return it as the policy said. I am going to order another product with darker softgels. It is just my preference. Thank you.
