You get what you pay for. Some things are more important than money.
I’ve lifted weights for a good chunk of my life, but fell off the wagon. Recently I started back up along with taking protein supplements. One day I stumbled across the “Clean Label” project as I was researching other products. I was amazed to find that the protein powder I had been taking for years (a well-known, name brand) had rated very poorly for BPAs (a known endocrine disruptor). Basically, this is a chemical commonly found in many plastics that is linked to cancer and developmental disorders.I was taken aback. This wasn’t even the worst of all of the proteins. Some had neurotoxic mercury, lead, or even just didn’t have the advertised amount of protein in them. Maybe I shouldn’t have been too surprised – the entire supplement industry is not regulated by the FDA.So, I went onto the clean label project’s list of best proteins, and found this: Puori’s PW1 Vanilla Whey Powder. It was expensive…double what I paid for a 2lb jug of my previous, however you can’t put a price on what you put into your body. The quality is great. It tastes excellent by itself, even better if you don’t mind combining your shake in a blender with fruit (like bananas). It’s vanilla – which means it’s also neutral enough be combined with your favorite recipes for an extra protein zip. It blends well even in a basic shaker cup…not chalky, or clumpy like some others — and yes, I’ve tried a lot over 15 years…I can count 20+ different brands off the top of my head…this is pretty good.I buy it though because it’s been independently tested to have what it claims to, and NOT give me lead poisoning (it’s funny we have to even say that, thanks Congress/FDA). I buy it because there are only 5 ingredients in it.My ONLY criticism besides the price is the lack of flavors. I would really like to see a banana cream version of this, so I don’t have to spike my protein shakes with the sugar from actual bananas.Keep doing what you’re doing Puori!

Clean, & Tastes Great when Mixed
If I read the reviews before buying I wouldn’t have given this a shot. I found it through “Clean Label”, this protein is one of the few that are transparent and qualify as Clean. ALSO, every time a friend tastes the way I make it, they go and order their own. BUT I mix it. So I use 100g of soy milk, a handful of frozen spinach, and a handful of strawberries. For my hubby I swap strawberries for frozen bananas, and it makes the BEST shake/ice-cream. People who love things super sweet can add a sweetener.

    Okay, but needs some improvements
I love the fact that this protein powder is clean, uses only alittle cane sugar and no artificial/other forms of sweetener. I only have 2 complaints. One, it foams ALOT when mixing it, especially in one of those mini blenders (which makes it hard to tell if you actually drank all of it from your drink). The other is it doest work well in coffee. It has that ‘whey’ taste. I prefer the Opportuniteas brand instead (protein taste is totally masked).I think this works fine in smoothies though, and the chocolate one works nice in mug cakes. But not sure if I’ll get it again.

    Great clean protein powder
Love it! I mix it with a scoop of chocolate collagen and it’s perfect. I’m sensitive to dairy and protein shakes/powders, this one doesn’t bother me at all. Will continue to buy!

    Great taste
For me, out of the vanilla protein powders I’ve tried, this is the best tasting! It’s also non-gmo. It mixes well with juice or even coffee.

    Product changed without notice
The manufacturer changed the formulation of the product without notice. It is now an ultra fine powder that is impossible not to inhale whilst handling the product. It’s so bad that it sets off my air purifier whenever I use it.I’m very disappointed especially since this cannot be returned even though the package is unopened. I had this on auto delivery and now am stuck with 2 unopened bags that can’t be returned. The whole reason for purchasing this brand is that it is supposed to be healthier than most. Not anymore….

    Decent.
I think this stuff works really well in conjunction with creatine as far as gains are concerned. It doesn’t taste bad at all. Here are my issues with this stuff: 1. Foams up in the shaker and makes for a lot of burping after ingesting. 2. Does not mix very easily and takes added more water a few times to really get all of it used. 3. The coconut sweetener messes with my gut, some people are sensitive to coconut and I happen to be one of them. 4. Pricey, I hope they can bring the price down by increasing supply to meet more than demand, but I doubt they will.Overall, I still use it. But if you’re scraping by financially, you’d probably have to pass. I’d say the price is the biggest problem.

Good quality but meh protein powder
I like that this is one of the top rated clean protein powders and is the reason I bought it. Aside from that, the flavor is bland. You do not taste the chocolate at all. Also no matter what I try I cannot get it to mix well. I have been making protein shakes in the blender for years but no matter what I try with this protein powder it’s either runny or icy, I can’t get a creamy shake with this powder. Probably won’t buy it again. I never enjoy shakes I make with this and only end up drinking half before dumping it out.
