Good Milk Thistle Supplement
Milk thistle can help improve liver health. I have taken it for about 13 years, and my liver health has been excellent, based on recent tests. The liver is an important organ for detoxification, and keeping it healthy is very important. This is a standardized formula, with 80% silymarin, which is believed to be the main ingredient in milk thistle.I took off a star because I don’t see anything related to third-party testing. I am sure this is fine, but I consider testing to be important in evaluating supplements.

Helps dogs’ high liver levels, also
These are fairly easy to swallow if they’re taken with juice or soda. If taken with water only, gelatin or veggie capsules like these sometimes get stuck going down. I sometimes get upset stomach from meds or supplements. So, I take most stuff with a meal anyways. So, I don’t have this issue unless taking them with water only. They’re fairly big capsules- about an inch long. As with most capsules made of gelatin, veggies, or rice combinations, they just sometimes get stuck when swallowing with just water. This bottle has 60 capsules, and each capsule is 525mg. It suggests that a serving size is 2 capsules once daily, @30 servings per bottle-so, it’s a one month supply. My old bottle of Spring Valley brand milk thistle is 175mg per capsule, @90 capsules per bottle, and suggests taking 1 capsule daily, preferrably with a meal-so, a 90 day supply. That’s a big difference in suggested daily dosage. So, it might be a good idea to do further research on proper dosage guidelines, or ask your doctor.I get these for my dogs. My 18 and half year old senior dachshund, Rusty, was alive up until earlier this year. He took milk thistle daily for several years(at much smaller doses than humans). He would get several days to a week break every 6 weeks. He had high liver levels due to Cushing’s disease. My other 3 dogs take it currently, since they take arthritis meds and allergy meds daily. Two are seniors, and one is 2 years old. It helps their livers frIm having to work so hard at cleaning the system. I give it to them only once a week, since they don’t have high liver levels. It’s just used as a preventative to help their livers from working so hard, due to the meds they take daily. I can get a bunch doses from one capsule, depending on the mg and weight of dog. So, bottles last much longer for dogs, than for humans.I am not a doctor or vet. I’ve just learned a lot of info from my vets over the years, and from a lot of research done when 2 of my dachshunds were diagnosed with Cushing’s disease.

So Far, So Good
This seems to be a good quality Milk Thistle blend so far.- Capsules are easy to swallow- No odd aftertaste or ill effects- Price/Value is very good- Label has non-GMO stamp but no indication of 3rd party lab testing (I haven’t seen the COA yet)- Uses EuromedI haven’t had any problem taking these, but I’m only giving 4 stars for now until I have a chance to view a COA from the company for this product. If/when I receive that, I’ll revise my review accordingly.

A great, potent standardized Milk Thistle product at a good price point
A simple, high quality single substance supplement. Pure simplicity.Silymarin is an active compound in Milk Thistle known for its antioxidant properties and support for healthy liver function. In this product, silymarin is standardized to 80%, and contains the flavonoids silybin, silydianin, and silychristin, the active components of milk thistle collectively known as silymarin. Silymarin has been shown to help protect and rejuvenate the liver, help it handle toxins, boost the production of bile to aid digestion, and helps control fat digestion. This product has a seal I have not encountered before: EUROMED PHYTOPROOF. According to what I found online, this means: “Each production batch, from the herb to the final extract, undergoes multiple laboratory tests for identity, potency and quality, a process certified by PhytoProof®, Euromed’s seal of quality. PhytoProof® extracts are highly bioavailable and provide tangible, reproducible results in clinical testing in line with consumer expectations.” This builds confidence.I have to say this is a fantastic version of Milk Thistle for supplementation, and not expensive for the quality and strength of Silymarin present. When standardization is focused on, that means some of the synergism of the plant is lost, and some prefer to use the non-standardized form to retain the plant’s synergism. The effects do differ. It all dependa on what effect one is looking for. I tend towards standardized herbs as I find them more consistant in their results. This its a great product I plan to keep using, pairing it with a curated group of supplements to assist my liver. I am all for rejuvenation. I have seen it with NR and NMN (yes, the claims are true, I have witnessed them myself, and a battle looks to be about to unfold between the pharmaceutical industry and the supplement industry over NMN – that’s how real it all is). This potent standarized Milk Thistle supplement is being added to my top tier list right along beside them.

Vegan Milk Thistle
This is a vegan milk thistle seed extract product, and comes in a medium sized capsule form. The contents are a chalky beigy color. I broke one open to taste the chalky substance and was quite pleased with the flavor and the smell. Taking two a day is said to promote liver health, and antioxidant function. Pleasant on the tongue, makes it easy to take and definitely worth the effort for additional antioxidant help in our system.

Support for Liver Enzymes
Upon my doctor’s recommendation, I added Milk Thistle to my daily supplements to support my liver enzymes. This Nature City Milk Thistle provides a single active ingredient formulation using a 30:1 extract. Unfortunately, the recommended dosage is 2-per-day. Because I take various supplements, I do prefer a 1-a-day formulation.
