all collagen isn’t created equal
just björn collagen is sourced from wild-caught cod found in deep water fish schools, where they are protected from direct exposure to harmful antibiotics and hormones. Marine collagen has a lower molecular weight than bovine collagen making it more bioavailable and effective.
What is collagen?
Collagen is the main structural protein found in various connective tissues in the body. It is the most abundant protein in humans, making up 25% – 35% of the body‘s protein content.
Why choose marine collagen?
Marine collagen (cod) consists of smaller peptides than bovine, making marine collagen easier to digest and distribute throughout the body.
How much collagen should I take in one day?
We recommend 1 scoop/10 grams of just björn collagen, taken daily at any time of day.
When can I expect to see results?
We recommend taking just björn collagen daily for 45-60 days to see results. An active lifestyle and regular exercise will help you achieve best results.
I’m new to collagen, what should I start with?
We recommend the just björn starter kit which includes a 90 day supply of collagen and a free ceramic canister—the best value to get you started on your collagen routine.

Awesome Product
This product really works. I am a pescatarian so I could not use the other animal based collagen products. It doesn’t really have much of a taste. Not fishy at all.

SMELLS HORRIBLE AND NOT RETURNABLE
Described as “odorless” one can only imagine my surprise at the putrid smell when I opened the package. It is so bad, it’s unusable. Since they will not allow a return or exchange, I am out the hefty price. BUYER BEWARE.

Marine Collagen
This marine collagen is gentle on the stomach, and easily dissolves in my morning smoothie (almond milk, berries). When mixed with the smoothie I do not notice any taste. When I mix it with water I can smell the powder (I think a bit fishy), which made me switch to taking it with my morning smoothie. It seems to be a good quality. However, I have not noticed an improvement in my hair or skin health after using for one month.

Pure flavorless powder from wild Atlantic Cod
The Bjorn marine collagen powder is a great nutritional supplement that will help with hair, joints, and fascia health. When I opened this 11.5 ounce bag I found a pure white powder inside. There is no fishy smell. There is a very very faint smell that is neither unpleasant nor pleasant. The package says this powder is tasteless. I would not dispute that. When I diluted a scoop of this collagen into a half cup of herbal tea the taste of the herbal tea was almost unchanged. If I was offered this tea, and not told that marine collagen was added, I would not have known. But, as I knew it was, added I could detect a small taste difference. The taste or maybe it is the mouth-feel, is of a broth, whether that be from red meat, poultry, or fish, it was a slight broth taste (which I did not find unappealing). My bet is that when I mix this powder into a smoothie containing soy milk, yogurt and berries (things that have a lot of flavor) the very slight taste of this collagen powder will be completely hidden. When you buy this collagen you know that you are getting it from wild Atlantic Cod. If this brings images of Norway as seen on the the PBS show New Scandinavian Cooking, that would be appropriate. At the same time, Cod are higher up on the food chain, so IF there is mercury or microplastics in the food chain, it would accumulate in fish higher in the food chain. I had been using marine collagen from a well known brand that starts with “A…”. On their packaging there is no info regarding the ultimate animal source of their marine collagen. The Bjorn packing is great. It is air tight and can be resealed. On the back of the package it lists that this collagen contains 8 of the essential amino acids the human body needs. The amino acid that is missing is Trytophan. This is very important to know. So, now before taking this supplement, I will eat a handful of pumpkin seeds to get a great source for Typtophan into my stomach. This product is much pricier than the “A” brand. One 11.5 oz package of Bjorn brand contains 30 scoops. It might be worth it for the price, as I do not know the source marine animals used in the other “A…” brand. Lastly, the Bjorn collagen packs states that each scoop contains 53mg of Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid is very important for healthy skin and fascia.

Probably among the best on the market, and priced accordingly
This is probably among the best collagen powders on the market. I won’t rehash the marketing claims too much, but it’s marine collagen from wild-caught cod skins instead of from all sorts of inedible fish and crustacean parts, and it’s from Norway. Sadly, you can’t have those in combination with a low price, which inevitably makes this more of a specialty product, but if you can afford it it’s among the cleanest, least processed collagen products you can buy. That said, in the interest of completeness, I’ll note a few things. There’s a minimum level of chemical processing required to get from a putrid vat of fish guts or beef offal that you’d have to pay someone to take away to a clean-looking white powder. A high minimum. Nothing to be concerned about, but face it, those cow tracheas weren’t going to process themselves. So the chemist in me says that even if this product started from what was perhaps a much more expensive and much less unpalatable vat of parts than competitors did, that fact by itself won’t change too much about the result. It’s also a fact that we’re omnivores perfectly capable of just eating those guts and/or offal if we must (certainly with some genuine gastrointestinal discomfort at first, then with much whining and blubbering). Proteins in the diet are completely broken down into their constituent amino acids during digestion, so while partially hydrolyzed collagen powders like this one do help with bioavailability somewhat, most of the time the efficiency gains can be offset simply by taking more, and the exact type of collagen (marine? bovine? type I?) shouldn’t be that critical.None of this is to say that collagen supplementation isn’t worth it – my opinion is that it absolutely is – and it doesn’t account for individual preferences, allergies, etc. that may mean you can’t stand a certain brand or type of collagen and have no problem with others. From a gustatory perspective this collagen doesn’t smell or taste like much when mixed into a smoothie or some other food product, so I think it will fit into most people’s routines. Setting the price aside, I’m happy to emphasize that this is a collagen of outstandingly high quality, and if you must have the best, you’ve pretty much found it.
