This thing works well!
I like this thing. I do group circuit workouts with some friends. We have a few stations, and one station I normally like to add is pull-ups. I can do a lot of pull-ups, but I struggle doing them for 45 seconds straight. I also struggle with that task a lot more the third time through the circuit. I find this to be a good product to help me workout to the point of failure. Some of my friends are also not very good at pull-ups, and they use this to aid them the entire time. This product is easy to use, stays secure, and is easy to adjust. I have used this for a few months, and it still looks like it is brand new.

Helpful in getting the workout in
That tiny extra boost needed to get the workout going is rather nice — I don’t have to go to a gym to use pull down bars, this works fine with a door jamb pullup bar. Haven’t had any issues with it.

So far so good!
Been doing P90X3 and I have never in my entire life ever been able to do a pull up! After using a chair to assist my pullups, I thought I should give bands a try. I love the quick adjustment to change the resistance level and the quick snap connection to unhook it from the bar. This appears to be surprisingly well made. The plastic snap connector does make me a bit leery, but its very thick and heavy duty feeling and I hope it holds up over time.Anyway, to give you my life story: I’m a guy, 5’11 215lbs. During my initial run of P90X3, I was using the chair assist. Over time though, I could definitely tell I was using my leg to assist my pullup, a lot more than I should have been. I started P90X3 doing 0 unassisted pullups, and ended P90X3 still doing 0 unassisted pullups after 90 days and I think the chair made it too easy to cheat. After giving these bands a try, I genuinely feel like I will be able to work myself up to at least one full unassisted pull up after this second full round. As time goes on and I find my self doing reps easier, I’ll drop the resistance until I hopefully ween myself off the bands and do one at least one or more completely unassisted pull up.Funny enough, the bands has made this so fun now that I randomly find myself sometimes on my off days of doing pull ups walking by the pull up bar, putting my foot in and doing a few reps now. A little $35 investment has made me enjoy practicing pullups.

great help with a difficult exercise
This works as expected. I am able to get a few sets of 10 pull ups. I am coming back from open heart surgery and it is tough. I appreciate that I am able to start getting such and important complex exercise back in. Shortening the length provides more counterbalance and lengthening provides less, so more difficult. I also believe in going all the way down and all the way up and not doing the half way thing. These give the most tension at the bottom and so it makes it easier to start. The only problem is that it puts a lot of pressure on your foot at the bottom. Only 1 foot fits in the stirrup. I found it uncomfortable it it was in the arch of my foot. It was great if I placed it at my heal.

Great for building up strength/endurance.
What I like most is that a.) it’s easily adjustable so that you can find the “right” resistance for you, and b.) it’s super strong and can easily support a heavier person. (I’m 230 and I never feel like the band is being stressed.)

Not Enough Assist for An Old Guy
This review probably applies to most, if not all, of these pull-up assist devices. I am 83 and weigh 165 lbs. and actively cycle so I am not in bad shape. However, even on the maximum assist, I can barely get my chin over the bar for 4 consecutive chins. The assist is OK until you get a couple of inches below the bar and then seems to be completely nonexistent. If you are older or heavier, I would go for one of these with a lot more assist than this one. I am 5’11” and I can hold the top chin over bar about 30 secs max with the assist at max. I calculated what weight I was actually chinning at that point and it comes out to 90 lbs. So that is the real assist; it may be 130 lbs at the bottom but it decreases to about 90 lbs when your chin over the bar. So your getting 70 lbs of assist, not 130 lbs. I am keeping the apparatus but getting a heavier band only that goes up to 170 lbs. With this heavier band I should get a few extra pounds to get my starting chins at max around 10. I hope this helps.

A must for those who cannot do pull-ups on our own
I have thick, strong (and heavy) legs, so doing pull-ups is a bit harder for me than some guys. This device is adjustable, and I find I can do pull-ups with assist and the range of motion is exactly the same as doing an unassisted pull-up! Adjustable even for those with very underdeveloped lats. Very sturdy, easy-to use, it hangs off my chinning bar all the time. Love it.

I’m petite and don’t have very strong upper body strength. This has been a game changer. I’m feel more encouraged and look forward to doing a variety of pull ups with more reps. This has been a game changer.
