Bilberry Supplement from a Supplement-Making family with a Track Record
Per Web MD, Bilberries (at least the fresh kind) are possibly beneficial for eye health, inflammation, blood sugar health and other things. I’m not sure if a supplement would offer as many benefits. That said, to me Safety is key when choosing a supplement. To evaluate safety (as much as I can), I look at the manufacturing of a supplement for Transparency, Accountability, and Quality.Transparency: Horbaach sounds German, but is made in Nevada, USA. The Horbaach brand was developed by Scott Rudolph, of the 3 generation Rudolph family, who originally developed the iconic Nature’s Bounty brand in 1971, so they have a track record for supplements.Accountability: On their webpage Horbaach claims to use Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified facilities as well as 3rd party testing. They claim to test for GMO’s, Allergens, dioxins, PCBs, heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides, and adulterated raw materials.. They do not identify who does their GMP Certification or 3rd party lab testing.Quality: This Bilberry supplement consists of small purplish capsules, and the bottle has a subtle berry scent. It claims to contain 300 mg of a 4:1 Bilberry extract (1200mg equivalent). Many reputable brands of Bilberry provide the standardized Athocyanin/ Anthocyanoside percentage, and I don’t see that listedIn summary, my impression is that Horbaach is a good brand, but I wish the Anthocyanin content of this supplement was listed.

Smells nice
I want to start taking bilberry for my eyes, there are some benefits to it that are well researched. The price of this supplement was very reasonable, bilberry tends to be expensive. I liked that this is a US company, and a lot of the features listed by the seller are attractive to me, such as non-GMO and GMP.The color of the capsules is a much brighter pinkish purple than the bilberry I purchased last time from a very trusted source. Either this is 10 times fresher, or there’s some sort of colorant although nothing is listed on the ingredients that would suggest that. The listing says they follow good manufacturing practices, however this is not listed on the bottle itself. That led me to the FDA website to check if they’ve ever inspected this company which I believe is a requirement to make that claim however the name does not come up in the FDA database. That could mean that they’re listed under another name, or it could be a reflection on my search capabilities. I was disappointed that I could not find it listed there.I always appreciate the flip top lid for easy dispensing. The expiration date is April 2027 which is 3 years out.
