Garmin Descent™ Mk3i, Dive Computer and Multisport GPS Smartwatch, Air Integration, Black

Discover a deeper connection with the Descent™ Mk3i watch-style dive computer. It features multiple dive modes plus SubWave™ sonar technology for diver-to-diver communication via preset messages (available with software v.15.70 or later). The device also supports monitoring of tank pressures and depth for up to eight networked divers, when paired with the Descent™ T2 transceiver (sold separately). A built-in LED flashlight keeps you going in low-light conditions, above or below water. Purpose-built specifically for divers, the Descent Mk3i dive computer combines a bright 1.4” AMOLED display with scratch-resistant sapphire lens, 200-meter dive-rated case and metal leakproof inductive buttons. DiveView™ maps offer bathymetric depth contours and more than 4,000 dive sites to help you find where to dive and get oriented. Plus, a dive readiness tool, developed by Garmin, shows how lifestyle factors such as sleep, exercise, stress and jet lag can affect your body’s overall preparedness for diving — so, ultimately, you can make better-informed dive plan decisions (data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked). This dive computer is designed to help maximize your preparation for the physical and mental challenges of diving. When you’re ashore, built-in sports apps help you stay on top of your fitness, while Garmin Pay™ contactless payments, music storage and smart notifications keep you connected (compatible smartphone required).

    chose this over fenix 8
I’ve worn a Garmin watch for more than a decade, starting with the forerunner 920xt, fenix 5, 6, epix 2. the consolidation of all my health stats and activities in one place and the amount of detail is unmatched by any other trackerI chose the descent because I’m getting into diving. at first I thought the fenix 8 was right for me but the air integration is a must. helps you track your air consumption in much more detail (see the reviews for the descent t2 transmitter)the fenix 8 is also limited to recreational depths, and if you remotely think you might want to get into tec diving or deeper depths, you need the descentas someone who also tracks all runs, bike rides, hikes, workouts etc, the descent is the closest thing to the perfect daily companionthe only minor downside is that the screen is not quite as large as dedicated high end dive computers like the shearwaters, but all the functionality is there

    Just wow!
For my very first smartwatch I am 100% confident I chose correctly. This thing has soo much built into it, it’s gonna take me a good week to learn it. Taking it diving Sunday. The brightness and color screen alone will outshine my vyper novo. Also picked up the T2 sonar transceiver, I feel excited like a kid with a new toy! Will update after I get it wet. Update: this is the best dive computer I have ever used, clear and easy to read under water, vibration for alerts is awesome, alerted me at 1500psi which my other computer did not, clear color notification when safety stop is cleared, alerts when depending or ascending too fast! Man have I been missing out. If you don’t own this, you should!!! Also super easy to use, I thought it was gonna be a learning process, but I was wrong, extremely user friendly.

    Great improvement over Mk2
I had the Mk1, upgraded to the Ml2 then to this when released. The upgraded screen is amazing and they have fixed the issue with accidental button presses.

    Really wanted to like it
Feature wise, this is an excellent watch, especially for divers. This lasted me an entire week of diving in Fiji without needing to recharge, so battery is a huge win.Unfortunately I really couldn’t get used to the UI both on the watch and in their apps. Garmin makes great hardware, but they really need to up their game on usability. UI elements feel like they’re oddly placed, and although watch the screen is big, it feels like they take a needlessly large amount of space. In order to make full use of the watch, you need a smartphone AND a desktop or laptop, and if that’s not bad enough, you need a whopping 5 apps installed on your phone. You’d think Garmin would make their maps easier on the eyes since the 90s, but it feels like not a thing has changed — way too sharply contrasted coloring, heavy pixel aliasing, etc. This all made sense for those old low resolution, limited contrast ratio LCD displays of the heyday of the dedicated GPS devices, but in the days where OLED with 400+ PPI and unlimited contrast ratio are more common than not and all around us makes all of that obsolete and unnecessary.I’d also like to see LTE support, as I quickly missed that from my galaxy watch. Combined with the quirky UI, I just couldn’t make use of this as an everyday watch, which is what Garmin promised but I feel hasn’t delivered. Others may disagree, and I know many who love their Garmin watches. I almost hate going back to the galaxy watch with its pitiful 2 days of battery life, but despite how bad even Samsung’s UIs are, they’re still ahead of Garmin, and for that reason I just can’t justify the price tag here as I’ve already got another dive computer.Garmin, PLEASE improve the UI experience. PLEASE make a more modern mapping experience, and PLEASE consolidate the number of apps required to make full use of it. If only you do those, I will more than happy to toss Samsung aside and switch to one of your watches full time.

Replaced my Suunto D5 with this beast. Absolutely beautiful watch with all around capability for all activities but especially great for diving. I enjoy freediving as well as scuba and this watch really does it all perfectly.
