What is aerial hoop?
“Aerial Hoop” or “Lyra” is a hoop suspended on a rope made of
very strong material (usually steel or aluminum) and can be
hollow or solid inside. Aerial acrobatics on a hoop combines
strength, elegance and flexibility. Aerial hoop strengthens the
whole body, especially the upper and middle parts, improves
balance, range and grace of movement.
Selecting an Aerial Hoop

Properly sizing an aerial hoop or Lyra comes down to personal preference, and what you are comfortable with.
A method of selecting an aerial hoop is to sit in a chair, measure from the seat of the chair to the top of the head, and add 2 inches.
The number of points your aerial hoop has will depend on how you are going to use it, what effect you are after and what you are comfortable with.
The following is a list of just a few things you might want to take into account when choosing your aerial hoop:
Double point hoops allow less overall movement, they also allow for an extra range of poses to be performed on the top bar.
However, due to the method of rigging they do take up more vertical space.
Single point hoops tend to rotate a lot more, however they allow for you to rig in smaller spaced areas.
Double point hoops allow you to perform moves that tip forward and back with a smaller amount of lateral movement.
Single point allows the hoop to rotate so additional moves can be performed.

This is a standard aerial hoop that will fit most aerialists. It is made from hollow steel tube and width is 32mm.You have your choice of 0 point,single or double point lyra.You can choose between a 31″(80cm)hoop,33″(85cm)hoop ,35″(90cm)hoop,37″(95cm)hoop,39″(100cm)hoop.
Selecting an aerial hoop:33″ Lyra is generally best for a performer under 5’6″; 35″ Lyra is generally best for a performer under 5’8″; 37″ Lyra is generally best for a performer under 6′.
For the single point lyra set you receive three carabiners, one swivel, and one 3 ft spanset.
For the double point lyra set you receive four carabiners, one swivel, and two 3ft spansets.For Tabless lyra set have two carabiners, one swivel, and one spanset.This should be all you need to rig your new lyra in most venues.

It’s a big, strong, stainless steel circle with a big, strong attachment point. Works well for my wife’s practice and will handle my 200+ lbs with no issues.

Measured For Sitting 37inch For 5’3
I got 37″(95) Lyra.I am five feet and three inches (5’3) and I properly measured from a seated position from the seat to the top of my head and added a few inches for clearance. I wanted to be able to sit on the LYRA with head clearance. Doing this I ended up choosing the largest they had in stock (37″). Success! I am able to sit on the Lyra with no problems. It also allows more stretching room. I added Lyra tape to it and it works great. I will be using this Lyra for exercise on my weight loss journey. Lifting your body weight is a good way to gain strength and I highly recommend trying Lyra’s as exercise devices. All components were very sturdy and well made. No complaints. FYI, If you are buying for a very small child this may not be right for you….Its diameter of its ring is thick. I consider this professional grade. A child will have trouble gripping. A teen should be able to grip it as I have small hands myself and I grip with no problems….but young child will have problems. The diameter taking a measuring string and measuring around it is 4 inches in diameter. Hope this helped as I had these same questions when looking to purchase.

Other than the fast shipping it was easy to install and get ready for classes. It’s very light weight and durable. The parts that came with it are very high quality. I own a gymnastics center that has aerial silks and my kids loved it.

Quality is great, metal is too thick for my preference
I got the single point lyra in 33″ (though when I measured the inside it is actually 34″). I am mostly happy with everything, the only thing that I didn’t like was the metal thickness. It is thicker than the lyras I am used to using and this causes my hands to fatigue much faster. Grips are a littler harder as well and any type of leg hang is more challenging with the thickness. The metal thickness measurement was not in the product description so this was something I didn’t know beforehand and it was a surprise. For anyone who doesn’t have a thickness preference or maybe wants thicker metal in their hands this will be great! All the equipment that came with the hoop is super good quality too.

I am an advanced Lyra Hoop artist. I finally decided it was time to have my own hoop. I found this one and loved it because it was 0 point(tab less) I love the 0 point hoop because i can mess around in the spanset. Overall this hoop is amazing. HOWEVER I’ve seen many people who bought this product and do not have little to no experience with this apparatus. PLEASE DO NOT GET THIS IF YOU ARE NOT EXPERIENCED YOU HAVE A HIGH CHANCE OF DYING. Do not buy your own hoop or silks or any other apparatus unless if you have over 1 year of experience in your apparatus and you rarely need to be spotted by your coach. If you do not meet these terms for your sake and your houses sake please DO NOT GET YOUR OWN APPARATUS. Thank you stay safe❤️

Saved my life
I’m pretty sure this is the Lyra I bought a few years back. I had it in my trunk two days ago and got hit by a semi when he didn’t see traffic slowing down. It must’ve taken some of the impact or something because I lived. The car wrapped around the Lyra and it’s completely unbent and undamaged. If you’re going for durability, this thing went up against a semi and won. I love it.

She Thick. And I Love Her.
I’ve never owned my own apparatus, so I have experience using a lot of different ones. I was surprised when I realized she really was thicker than your average lyra. But I’ve grown to love it, and now I actually prefer it. Some things are more difficult, some things are actually a little more comfortable. It’s an easy adjustment. I really don’t even notice a difference anymore since this has been my primary apparatus.She’s hollow, but a little heavier because of the width of the bar. The carabiners in the set are very easy to use even though they’re not auto-lock. The swivel spins like butter. I’m a very happy bird.

Bought the 35(90) perfect size to do acrobats. ( my height is 5’5 ) Use everything that came with the hoop. The tape has been very useful probably buy more if possible. Being very resistant makes me feel safe.
