Doesn’t Pinch like Springs
Although I started lifting weights in high school, I never used a chest expander, primarily because the springs were a real hazard with pinching. Now, decades later, these rubber tube expanders are on the market and remove the problem of pinching. This unit is pretty solid and the price was good. You can remove the bands to change the tension. The thing to remember is to balance the location, e.g. two tubes would be the top and bottom slots, for 3 tubes add one in the middle.I got this primarily as a light exercise for rotator cuffs and it is working fine. When I started, I had to drop it to two tubes. Over time, I have moved it up to 4 tubes. As I say, I got it because the spring ones were always a problem for me.The rubber tubes work for me.

Great Product. Better Instructions Needed
The product I just wanted wanted. It was great for exercise. The rubber cords can be added and removed to create the right resistance. The problem I found was with the instructions. It was difficult to remove the cover to add and remove cords without knowing how to do it. If you turn the handle upside down and look at the bottom, the orange plastic can be seen. You pull the orange piece to the side and back to remove the cover so you can add and remove cords.

Asked about the resistance of the tubes, still confused.
Now, the product itself is fine and I’ll re-iterate that towards the end of this ‘review’, but the listed resistances are still nonsensical and it’s impossible to point that out by posting a question. I only got answered and told it’s “simple, right?” Well, sure… Dividing 5 tubes by the max resistance is simple, but only leaves ya scratching your head in this case, question ‘solver’.. lolI get that you can just divide the proposed/listed max resistance by the number of tubes, as was answered in a posted question. Sure. Simple enough. I know I’m not that dull, and got that vibe from your reply. But if each individual tube is 52.8 lbs (264 lbs divided by 5 tubes) how is the 1st tier 143 lbs? There’s no logical way that any of these numbers add up.Yeah, it’s “easy” to figure out the individual tube strength by dividing the # of tubes by the listed max resistance, what you actually figure out is that it makes no numerical sense and that the company probably should figure out two things; The actual resistance of each individual tube, and then what the FIVE tiers of resistance based on adding each individual tube to the handles would be.Maybe my line of thinking is faulty? If there are 5 tubes that can be added or removed, and you basically either pull all 5 straight out of the package or remove as many as necessary leaving you with 1-4 tubes… Then yes, logic would dictate that in reality there are 5 tiers. More importantly, if the tubes all look the same and are all the same resistance, then there’s no way there can only be 4 tiers when the 1st tier is as much resistance as like 3 of the 5 tubes and then the other 3 tiers are all like 20-25 lb increases…… ? You only have 2 tubes and there are 3 more tiers. lol. The listing basically implies that each individual tube is not the same, in some cases by a drastic amount of poundage, yet we know/they are marketed and designed to look as though they are all the same resistance. If 264%5 = 52.8 lbs of resistance for each tube… Then the resistances would be 52.8, 105.6, 158.4, 211.2, 264. Nothing like the resistances listed, other than the ‘max’ resistance which I divided the 5 tubes by to get 52.8 with a darn calculator – So there’s no fudging up the numbers based on (potentially/ relatively) poor mathematical skills.Other than the resistances being completely wrong and not making mathematic sense… Seems to be a great accessory piece for getting in upper back/rear delt volume to help with strength/size. Especially without having to tire out your lower back or pull your entire body up in a pull up (I have no problem doing that, but hard to bang out 100+ pull ups a day when you’re trying to heal elbow tendonitis that you’ve trained through for awhile and allowed to get pretty bad!) Could only bang out reps with 2 tubes right out of the package. But it didn’t seem to put much pressure if any on my elbows as long as I was doing it slow and controlled and trying to pull apart with my upper back rather than my arms.I’m a pain in the ass and this was too blatant for me to let go, so I posted this mostly to point out the inconsistencies. Figure out the darn resistance of one individual tube and then list them correctly as FIVE tiers, Ueasy. lol.EDIT: Since ordering this, I can basically do a bunch of sets of 5 with 4 bands inserted with high-moderate effort. I have never really trained my upper back/rear delts, so this definitely has helped me see some further development in those areas over the last 3 months or so. I just did about 50 reps today with the 4 bands, and even if I’m still developing strength with this movement it’s definitely a good workout for the delts if not the traps/middle back to supplement pull ups and barbell rows (I hate doing deadlifts, I know, I’m a jerk).. But high rep work with this will certainly help to add work volume to your weekly upper back training and it can be done during breaks while using the computer.Cannot stress that it was a great investment and even now trying to do a pull apart with the bands maxed out is quite difficult. I feel like 4 to 5 bands is a bigger leap than 3 to 4 might have been, but maybe it’s because I tried it today while my arms/back/shoulders are all fatigued from previous exercises throughout the week ON TOP of working out earlier before trying it again. Haven’t spent much time using 4 bands, probably just need a month or two of adjusting to the resistance before using all of the bands at once. I think that my rear delts have definitely blown up a bit, definitely noticed some growth/thickening in that area.

Chest expander
Very good quality. The cabs holding the bands in place was difficult to remove so I just left it off afterward seems like very good. Quality has lasted for at least a year now I wish the handles were a little larger to be able to get your foot inside one for doing vertical exercises.

First of all, I like the easy use of the item and the safety aspect of its construction. The bands appear to made of strong and reliable rubber which should provide for long use. Second the retention and removable restraint is easy to remove, replace, and ensure safety while in use. Lastly, I like that the item was immediately shipped. Anthony M. Southfield, MI

This apparatus is good to have on the go or use it to do multiple upper and lower body exercises !
This chest expander has 5 super tough black 30lb bands! I could only handle 3 bands to full y pull across my chest and I use this apparatus to do back rows, bicep curls, triceps extensions and kickbacks, leg presses and more! This little apparatus can kick your butt if you do one exercise after the next! Don’t be deceived! You will be challenged in ways you’ve never felt!👍👍
