Tone Dome Balance Trainer – Red, 6 kg

I already own a Bosu, but wanted a second one as I have some workout DVDs that use two balance domes at a time. This product was a good price and I loved the bright red colour! Although its called Ok FamouslyFit Core Workout Dome it is actually by York Fitness which is reassuring (I already own squat racks and an exercise bike also by York Fitness and their products have never let me down yet so it is a brand name that I trust).So on to the dome itself – this is an excellent product! It is extremely sturdy and well made! The inflatable ball portion is very securely held into the base and the base itself feels very SOLID – unlike my other balance trainer which has more give in the plastic base, the Famouslyfit dome does not feel like it is going to give out on you when you use it flat side up for pushups etc. Another great feature is that the flat side has green rubber grippers over most of the surface -I have had trouble with other similar products where the grip is achieved by small rubber pads that are glued on – these slip on carpet and come off with heavy use. In contrast this dome’s green grippers form an all over gripping surface so the dome does not move at all on either hard floor or carpet, and the rubber grip pad is extremely well attached to the base so its not going to come off in a hurry! For anyone who uses a balance dome regularly for exercise, this is a great plus point as it will really prolong the life of the product! Another neat feature is the two little holes on either side to enable you to attach resistance tubes for more varied exercises (although please note the tubes themselves do not come with the dome but can be purchased seperately). I have another brand of interchangable resistance tubes with clips on the end and these fit on just fine.The dome is easy to inflate with the pump that is provided, there is an exercise chart and also a guide to inflation heights – low, medium & high which you can measure against the side of the dome as you pump it up to make sure you do not over inflate it. I notice the actual dimensions of the product are not displayed on Amazon’s page (at time of writing) so I’ll give the dimensions of the dome here:Diameter (from edge to edge of the black base) is 59 cm (23″)Height (when fully inflated) is around 23 cm (9″)The size of the product is about an inch smaller in diameter and height than my other Bosu dome – the difference is slight and certainly does not affect the ability to perform all the exercises you would do on a regular bosu on this balance dome instead! The dome can be under-inflated to create a squishy surface, or when fully inflated it gives a good firm level of bounce (but still enough instability to challenge balance). The red surface of the dome is smoother than the more ridged/ringed surface of a Bosu dome but I do not find this to adversely affect grip at all.Overall, this product offers a fantastic alternative to a regular Bosu (in fact it is my balance trainer of choice now as I prefer it over the usual blue dome). It is funky and functional, well made and very enjoyable and fun to use!

As a personal trainer I specialize in core stability straining, I wanted a stability trainer for home and to work with clients. I have a lot of experience working with the Bosu. After reading the reviews I chose the famously fit dome and also due to the price difference. Delivery was very quick and it was easy to inflate!the dome is excellent!! It is very well made and strong. The max weight is 120kg, my partner (a bodybuilder weighing 111kg) tried it for a number of exercises and also found it very efficient. When flipped over to stand on the flat side, the grip is great, a lot better than the bosu which has no grip and just a flat surface. I tried all exercises on it and it works brilliant, the grip is great for squats/superman etc.When flipped onto the red dome side for crunches etc, due to the more round shape the dome is extremely efficient for crunches/ab work, it works the abs a lot better than the flatter bosu and really isolates the abdominals.Overall this dome is excellent and very reasonable priced!! I was surprised to find it far better than the more expensive bosu. The rounder dome shape is better for core stability and also for all other exercises. I am very happy with my purchase and if i ever need another stability trainer i will definitely purchase the York fitness famously fit Done instead of the bosu. Also I personally feel the bright colours are great!!! 😀
