For me, this stuff is a miracle in a jar!
I tried literally everything I could think of to combat my sporadic constipation. I had never had an issue eliminating every day until approximately 9-10 months ago. Around that time, I was prescribed antibiotics for a bacterial infection. I had never taken any probiotics, but when the pharmacist dispensed the antibiotics to me, he mentioned that it might be a good idea to take probiotics while I was taking the course of antibiotics. I took his advice, but despite the probiotics I ingested, the antibiotics did some major damage to my GI flora. Ever since, I have suffered from sporadic constipation.I tried everything. Some things worked better than others, but none seemed to have any lasting effects (the constipation would eventually return). Here’s what I tried:1) a large number of varying strains of probiotics 2) kombucha 3) kefir 4) increased amount of magnesium 5) varying amounts of calcium and B vitaminsNeedless to say, I became extremely frustrated with my poor results, which only added to my constipation. Then I researched prebiotics and their huge importance in gastrointestinal health. I knew it wouldn’t hurt to try them! This company seemed like a good one, so I gave it a chance. I started out slowly at first: 1/4 tsp once daily and eventually in a couple of weeks, worked my way up to 1.5 tbp daily. While I was increasing the amount of prebiotics, I was still drinking 1 bottle of water kefir, a varying amount of probtiocs (around 1-2 billion CFU), 1 bottle of kambucha, and magnesium supplements. After a few days, I saw some results, but again, they didn’t last. Finally, I thought back to “the good old days” when I didn’t have an issue with constipation. I NEVER took any probiotics or had any major supplements (other than a good multivitamin and supplemental vitamin D) and I NEVER had a problem! So, in one day, I decided to give up all forms of probiotics, but I continued with my normal multivitamin and vitamin D. I increased the amount of prebiotic to 2 tbp daily. Literally, the morning after, I had a normal elimination. This has continued for three weeks! I have had absolutely NO issues. Needless to say, I will be ordering the Prebiotin until the day I die! This has been an absolute lifesaver.Recalling my struggle, I do believe that once my GI tract was repopulated with beneficial bacteria (after the antibiotics), I was just taking in too many probiotics in various forms. It was just to much for me. Honestly, once my GI flora was repopulated, I should have stopped taking the probitics and let nature take its course. Now, I know better! What worked for ME: once my good flora was replenished, there was no need to add more! Instead, all I needed to do was to feed and support my good gut flora with PREBIOTICS!

Tasty and Healthy Addition to Hot Tea
I’ve been using this product for years and prefer it to sugar with my hot tea and lemon. It tastes so good and blends exceptionally well with only a few stirs of the spoon. I do eat it raw when I don’t have time for tea. By itself, it tastes like cotton candy. Enjoy!

PREbiotics to add to daily routine
I originally started taking Prebiotin approximately 2 years ago. I can very honestly say it is the best thing I have done for my gut… for my colon health. I didn’t necessarily realize it at the time, in the beginning, but now as I look back over the years, I clearly see the positive changes to my gut/colon health. I used to have problems with my colon and occasion lower intestine pain and problems with digestion. These products have helped me tremendously. I believe if my gut and colon are healthy… my body and overall health is much better overall. I have good reports on my yearly blood tests. I have good health… I attribute this partially to taking this product along with healthy diet (as much as possible) and exercise. With that said, when I eat something bad, I feel assured this product has me covered. The weight management (WM) formula has helped decrease my appetite…. I know this is true because I have gone without it when I did not order it in time. Going without it for a time brought my appetite back to a level I do not want to be honest. I can take the WM formula with coffee in the morning and feel I can prolong and decrease eating throughout the day. In the evening I take the recommended amount with water before bed. Again… as I look back over the year…. THIS PRODUCT HAS helped me tremendously… It works and I have better health for it.

Take Prebiotin when you’re on probiotics to ensure that those bacterias don’t go to waste!
I started taking this product, Prebiotin, with the hopes that it will strengthen and maintain my somewhat weak digestive system. My immune system is fine; I rarely get sick with the cold or flu anymore since I started taking periodic courses of probiotics a few years ago. So, this review is mainly on my observations for the digestive system. My problems:I get diarrhea often, depending on what I eat (let’s just get that out there now..). I have a huge problem with eating beef steak or beef that isn’t 110% cooked well-done. I also fall ill from food that isn’t prepared properly in the slightest bit. Usually, it’s not a problem for most people with food that may have been sitting out for a while (like salad dressings at the buffet line) or slightly cross-contaminated food. It sounds terrible, but honestly, we all probably cross-contaminate food or undercook food on an every day basis and not have a problem with it at all because most people’s systems are healthy. However, my sensitive digestive system reacts really quickly, like within 1-3 hours, while everyone else is fine :(. I will have to be in close proximity of home or a toilet due to diarrhea. I haven’t been diagnosed, but I’m pretty sure I’ve got mild IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). At the time BEFORE I took this, I had mild food poisoning that made me so sensitive to all food that I was unwell for a whole month. Why I chose Prebiotin:I needed a source of prebiotics to accompany my probiotics. After some research, it’s said that chicory root has the most of that. However, it is almost impossible to find out where it is sold locally. Just try Googling it. You’ll find a ton of articles on how awesome chicory root is but not where it’s sold at. I’ve never seen it at Smiths or Albertsons. Have you? Therefore, I had to purchase it online in the powder form. After reading reviews, Prebiotin was a good product to start with. How long have I taken this product:I’ve taken it for exactly 28 days total. I’ve taken Prebiotin together with my probiotics for the first 21 days. Then I took Prebiotin for an additional 7 days without probiotics. Now, I’ve completely stopped and it has been another 7 days without any supplements whatsoever at the time I’m writing this review. What Prebiotin tastes like:It tastes a little like powdered creamer, the kind you put in coffee. It’s a little sweet. It tastes pretty good. How I take it:The recommended full dosage is 2 scoops (ie. 2 teaspoon) once a day. At first, you’re supposed to start small before working your way up to the full dosage. I take it once a day, since it’s said that bacteria in your gut need it every day. There’s a scoop that comes with it, which measures to be 1 teaspoon. At first, I took it in the morning by adding 1 scoop to a glass of cold almond milk or a cup of hot coffee, and I eat breakfast. Then, I started taking it in either the middle of the day or at night by dissolving it in a glass or regular cold or room-temperature water, sometimes on an empty stomach. I found that it really makes no difference whether I take this on an empty stomach or not, so I just take it at my convenience. While Prebiotin does dissolve fast, if you just pour the whole scoop in, it will clump up. So I add a little at a time while stirring with a spoon. I never got to 2 scoops because of the side-effects – more on that later.Does a scoop come with it?Yes it does! Yay! You’ll have to dig around inside the container to find it because I didn’t even know it was there until a month after I’ve been taking this product.Side-effects:I was aware of possible bloating and gas as a side-effect before I started taking it, but I didn’t realize how bad it gets for certain people. It is why now I only take Prebiotin in the middle of the day or at night so that I don’t have to worry about passing gas (aka farting lol) in public. I was reading up on chicory root inulin and Prebiotin, and someone had said something along the line of, “sadly, the people who need this the most are the people who can’t take it because of the side-effects”. That would be me. At one point, the bloating got so bad that I was hunched over in bed with a belly ache I can’t get rid of for the whole day. I couldn’t even sleep! If you’re the kind that is prone to constipation, you will probably suffer the most. So I drink plenty of water when I take this, just in case… The bloating and gas is also why I can never take more than 1 scoop a day. I tried 2 scoops as I slowly worked my way up to the full dosage… Not a great idea – anything more than 1 scoop just doesn’t work for me. HOWEVER, my wife takes this 2 scoops easy without ANY of the side-effects I mentioned. She also doesn’t have any problems with her gut or digestive system like I do. See! – The people who need this the most are the people who can’t take it. I really do believe that now.Does it work?:Yes, it does. I’m farting, aren’t I? Okay, joke aside, I truly believe it works in maintaining a healthy gut for good bacteria to grow and flourish. Remember, at the time BEFORE I took this, I had mild food poisoning that made me so sensitive to ALL food, that I was using the toilet for diarrhea almost every meal or I was hunched over in pain from belly aches. It didn’t matter how light of the food I ate. Probiotics started healing me slowly and I had taken it for 2 weeks with slow progress. However, once I started taking Prebiotin, I noticed how accelerated my system was healing with probiotics and prebiotics combined! I had waited a whole month after getting food poisoning because I thought it would eventually go away on its own. When it didn’t, I took probiotics. Finally, I ordered prebiotics to accompany that. They just work so much better together! After about half a week taking Prebiotin with my probiotics, I was back to my old self. I could eat anything and everything I usually eat again. However, I still get diarrhea from eating non-well-done beef or beef steak, but it’s not as bad. Like, my system will still expel the entirety of the food I ingested within a few hours, but it’s not coming out like an explosion. My conclusion:I would definitely take Prebiotin only when I am taking my periodic courses of probiotics and maybe for a week or two afterwards to ensure that the good bacteria that make it to my gut survive more than a day. I usually take a 30-60 course of probiotics twice or three times a year.Side note that is NOT related to Prebiotin:By accident, I realized my sensitivity to beef and certain food could be due to my system’s intolerance to it and has little to do with having a weak gut. When I mean by accident, I really do mean it. I was offered some digestive enzymes (I don’t remember the brand, but I took 2 pills) one day by a friend who regularly takes it when she over-eats and needs to digest quicker so she can eat again (we’re avid fans of eating a lot of food especially when we’re on vacation – we literally take foodie vacations out of town and eat up to 5 times a day). After I took it and ate beef, I had no problems at all. I was so surprised that I didn’t even have a problem with dairy products! I was like, whoa! Was it really just that I didn’t produce enough enzymes to digest certain foods? So upon researching up on intolerance to beef, dairy, and digestive enzymes, I found that some people do develop an intolerance to certain food due to lack of ability to produce enough digestive enzymes, and it can especially come with age. Anyways, I tried the digestive enzymes again right before I went to eat Korean BBQ (beef) and for the first time since I was teen, I didn’t have any diarrhea O_O. I highly doubt it was the Prebiotin because prior to the digestive enzyme pills I took, I was still having problems. So… If you have the same problem I do, it might be worth checking out the possibility that it’s not a weak gut that’s the problem. Perhaps, something else is wrong with another part of your body.
