Too dependent on water pressure
I purchased this set because every time I go on vacation, I fall off the wagon and stop working out. I have resistance bands, but I don’t like how their resistance changes depending on where I put my foot on them and how old they are. I prefer dumbbells because their weight doesn’t vary, and thus these travel dumbbells sounded like an ideal solution to travel with. Unfortunately, now that I just filled up one of them with water, I can already tell this is not going to work on vacations. The design here is actually quite clever. The inlet has two stages. One that is wide open, where you fill the dumbbell to about 80% capacity. Then you close it. The second inlet only lets water in and prevents water from escaping. So you are supposed to push water through that second inlet and then close it. However, my kitchen faucet simply didn’t have the pressure necessary to push the water in. Neither did my bathroom faucet. This is probably because their shape prevented my from sealing the faucet’s mouth against the inlet. I actually had to go to my garden and use my water hose, which I can focus in a very fine, very strong jet, which allowed me to fill the dumbbell to the brim. Unfortunately, I am not willing to risk taking these dumbbells’ with me while traveling, hoping that I will find the right kind of set up allowing me to fill them up. I can just bring resistance bands, which are guaranteed to work (as much as I don’t like them).Having said that, the final weight of the single dumbbell I assembled was 11 pounds. It worked fine while I was testing it. Evidently, it ends up being a bit bulkier with water than with metal, but I found that it somewhat comparable to the Powerblock in terms of bulkiness. Also, while it is made in light, affordable material, the construction didn’t feel cheap or flimsy.Unfortunately, I cannot recommend them for traveling because of my experience filling them. Neither can I recommend them for home because you could buy a fully metallic dumbbell for a fraction of the price. Quality seemed ok for the use case and instructions were clear, thus my three stars, but they will be going back.

Very impressive!
Well…I was very very apprehensive about getting these but at 73, lugging around 10lb dumbells while traveling is not only an inconvenience but quite “dumb”.Saw these and said why not?Great design feature with the extra large fill valves making it fast and very easy to fill.Easy to assemble but keep in mind that it’ll take a while to empty and dry things off before repacking.Great for travel!

20lbs per dumbell just like it says.
Is exactly what it says and pretty tough too. Shame it’s only 20lbs but good for precise shoulder work and high reps I guess. Good value compared to others which I’m sure are the exact same product.Couple of extra tips:It probably should come with a fill valve but just hold it under the faucet until it is plump. It’s a little bit of work to close the double cap too and you will get a bit wet. Once closed don’t be shy to push the cap in flush like in the photos as it adds back the last pressure you lost when trying to put the stopper in. Mine ended up looking just like the pictures. They are not weak. I’ve already dropped them a couple of times and no leaks.Handy stuff.

Limited weight
It is a bit awkward to fill up and close the plug. There is a fill valve to top it off. Since water’s density is alot lower than lead, your dumbbells are pretty a large. It is a clever solution to be able to adjust without buying expensive weights. My issue is the advertised weight ( (8-10 kg or 16-20 kg).The max water I could get into one is about 4lb so 8lb less than 4kg per dumbbell. Even if you double up all on one dumbbell, that’s still 16lb (less than 8kg). I know know where this range is coming from.Another review mentions 20lb. This is still only 9kg
